WILDNET EDGE | FORWARD DEPLOYED ENGINEERING SCOPING BRIEF Use this planning template with your business and technical stakeholders. It is a discussion aid, not an automated assessment or a proposal. 1. THE BUSINESS PROBLEM Which workflow or customer deployment is difficult today? Who owns it? Who uses it? What happens if it stays unchanged? What baseline can you measure, and what would useful progress look like? 2. THE CURRENT ENVIRONMENT Which applications, cloud platforms, APIs and data sources are involved? Which integrations already exist? Where are the gaps or dependencies? Who can explain the architecture and authorize the necessary access? 3. WHY AN FDE Does the work require direct user collaboration and hands-on implementation? Are the requirements likely to evolve as people try the solution? Could standard implementation, product engineering or architecture support solve the problem more appropriately? 4. THE FIRST MILESTONE What is the smallest useful outcome to validate? Which acceptance criteria and tests will show it is ready? Who will make decisions, review demonstrations and approve changes? 5. AI AND DATA, IF RELEVANT What data may be used, where may it be processed, and who approves this? How will you evaluate quality, failures, cost and user usefulness? Where are human approval, fallback and monitoring required? 6. DELIVERY AND COMMERCIAL MODEL Is the scope bounded, evolving, or part of your team's ongoing backlog? Discuss fixed scope, time and materials, or staff augmentation accordingly. Agree the budget assumptions, exclusions, review cadence and change control. 7. COLLABORATION AND CONTROL What working-hours overlap does your US, Canada or UK team require? Are there travel or on-site requirements? What is the escalation route? Confirm approved environments, least-privilege access and security reviews. Record IP, confidentiality, licensing and repository-access terms. 8. HANDOVER AND OPERATIONS Who owns deployment, monitoring, support and ongoing maintenance? Which runbooks, documentation and knowledge-transfer sessions are needed? What must your internal team be able to operate independently?
